Fuding White Tea is made from the buds and leaves of the "Hua Cha 1" or "Hua Cha 2" tea trees produced in Fuding, without frying or kneading, using special techniques. Its outer buds are intact, the soup color is clear apricot yellow, and the taste is light, sweet, and refreshing.
According to the different types of buds and leaves harvested, white tea can be divided into: white hair silver needle, white peony, longevity eyebrow, new craft white tea, etc. In recent years, according to market demand, tight pressed white tea has also been introduced.
The Fuding Dabai tea tree is 1.5-2 meters high and 1.6-2 meters wide, with a semi open growth and a small tree type.
Branches are dense and internodes are still long. The bark is gray.
The leaves are elliptical in shape, with a pointed and slightly drooping tip, a slightly blunt base, and a slightly upward edge.
Usually 12 × 5.4 centimeters in size, with an average aspect ratio of 2.2. The leaves are yellow green in color and glossy.
The lateral veins are obvious, with 7-11 pairs. The serrations are relatively neat and obvious, with 27-38 pairs. The leaf flesh is slightly thick and still soft.
Fuding City is located in the northeast of Fujian Province, on the coast of the East China Sea at the border of Fujian and Zhejiang provinces.

Except for the soil in coastal areas, most of the soil in the region is suitable for the growth of tea trees.
The Tang Dynasty's "Classic of Tea" by Lu Yu quotes the Sui Dynasty's "Yongjia Tujing": "There is a white tea mountain 300 miles east of Yongjia County. According to tea industry experts such as Chen Chuan and Zhang Tianfu, Baicha Mountain is actually Tailao Mountain. As early as the Sui and Tang dynasties, white tea had already appeared.
In 2006, it was awarded the title of "Hometown of Chinese White Tea" by the Ministry of Forestry of China.

In 2013, it was awarded the title of "China's Most Beautiful Ecological Tea Town" by the Chinese Tea Association. For several consecutive years, it has been rated as one of the "Top Ten Tea Producing Counties (Cities) in China" by the China Tea Circulation Association.
On July 20, 2020, Fuding white tea was selected as one of the first batch of protected geographical indications in China and Europe.
